I’ve been meaning to write about this for some time. Back in December, Kenny, Kelly & I drove Dad and Kendrick to the airport in Birmingham. We took Hwy 79. You go through a small town called Locust Fork. I have driven this road many times. When you go through Locust Fork, there’s a sign on the road for a covered bridge. As we saw that sign, Kenny asked if anyone wanted to go see the bridge. Of course we did. So, we turned left off the highway in search of it. The bridge was only a couple of miles off the highway. We could tell when we were getting close because the road was getting more narrow. We could also tell by the huge drop-off on the side of the road. The bridge was beautiful. It was a one-lane covered bridge. It is still used as a travel road every day. This bridge was constructed in 1933 and is the longest existing covered bridge in Alabama. We decided not to cross. Kelly especially did not want to cross this bridge. As Kenny teasingly made her think he was going to ease across it, you could hear her pulling at the door handle in the back seat. Luckily, the child locks were on and she was stuck!
There are three covered bridges still existing in Blount County. I would like to visit all three.

Leigh Ann was a big girl today. She took her first flu shot. Leigh Ann, Kelly and Kendrick all received their flu shots this afternoon at the pharmacy next door to my office. I got mine about three weeks ago. It was a big challenge for Leigh Ann, but she came through just fine!

Today is Kelly’s 14th birthday. We are going out to dinner with the family and hopefully she will like the present we bought her. Sorry, I can’t tell you what it is, but I think she’ll like it.
It’s hard to believe she’s already 14. HAPPY BIRTHDAY KELLY! We love you, Mom, Dad, Kendrick, Cricket, TC & Jr

Today is Kendrick’s 12th Birthday. Grandpa took him out for lunch and then we all went to Rosie’s for supper. Grandpa and Lele came, too. Poor Kelly didn’t get to go, she had practice.
Of course, the best part of the day was when he upwrapped his present. It was a big hit:

Last weekend, I went to Chattanooga with Amy & Patti. Since this year is our 20 high school reuion, we decided to have a small get-together ourselves. We spent time catching up with each other’s lives. We spent some time shopping and eating. We also went to a spa and I have my first massage. It was awesome. We really had a nice time and enjoyed spending time together, something we haven’t done for a long time. It was girls only, we left all the kids at home.
